Under the sponsorship of the president of Croatia Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and in the organisation of the Croation Academy of Medical Sciences, the Croatian Medical Association, the Health Resort Veli Losinj, and the Institute for public health of Primorsko-goranska County, the XVI Losinj school of natural healing factors and sanatorium medicine was held 4 – 5 September 2015 on the topic: Croatia – medical and health tourism.
In the programme of the Conference, along thirty talks, the organisers included also a lecture: The_Bethany_House which gave Maria Sister Hiacinta Hoblaj, professor.
The lecture given by Sr. Hiacinta deals with the contribution the programme of the House of Bethania for health of mind and body, as the spiritual centre for tourists, has been offering during summer months for five years, the contribution to the overall health of man, the tourist as well as other sick people, who look for health on the Island of Veli Losinj, the Island of vitality. The lecture also points at the fact that the spirit of man is a reality that no longer can be passed over or avoided, and that the spirit of man has also its real needs, which can result in seroius consequences/diseases for the individual and for the society if they are systematically neglected and marginalised. The man’s spiritual powers are unavoidable factors in the efforts taken by man to achieve and sustain his overall health.
This year, XVI Losinj school of natural healing factors and sanatorium medicine was also held at the memory of 130 annyversary of the health tourism of the Island of Veli Losinj, as well as the coming of Carl Stephan Habsburg to Veli Losinj (1885-2015). Since the Duke Carlo Stephan came to Veli Losinj only two years after the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross (1883), this significant annyversary draws attention also to a fruitfull co-operation between the Duke’s family and the community of Holy Cross Sisters on the projects of education, and also to their significant and direct contribution to the entire spiritual-socail health of local population.
